Along with other metropolitan transportation planning agencies (MPO) in California, Shasta Regional Transportation Agency (SRTA) is working with its partner agencies on strategies toward achieving the region's greenhouse gas emissions target established in SRTA's sustainable communities strategy. Instrumental in achieving these targets are converting trips made by motor vehicle into trips made by bicycle or on foot. To this end, SRTA and its partner agencies have begun directing more funding toward pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects. As funding for these active modes becomes more robust, Shasta County
stands to profit from improvements in the community's health, environment, and economic prosperity.
