The Shasta Regional Transportation Agency (SRTA or Agency) requests Proposals for the manufacture and delivery of up to seven (7) heavy-duty battery electric transit vehicles in accordance with the terms and conditions set forth in this RFP, with options for up to an additional twenty (20) vehicles over a five-year period.

The initial seven (7) vehicles will be used to transport passengers on two service routes:  a 170+ mile (one way) transit route between Redding, CA and Sacramento, CA (“Salmon Runner”) and a 144+ mile (one way) transit route between the small rural communities of Willows, Orland, Chico, and Corning, CA (“North Valley Feeder”). Vehicles must be large enough to accommodate 30+ passengers and luggage. When not in service, some of the vehicles will be stored at the northern end of the route (Redding, CA), others will be stored at the southern end of the route (Sacramento, CA), and others will be stored in Willows, CA. The Agency expects to have charging stations located at each end of the routes and charge the vehicles overnight and between service runs.

The options for up to an additional twenty (20) vehicles could be used to transport passenger on other service routes in California, could be stored in other locations in California, and could have charging stations located in the local jurisdiction of any permissible assignee of the Agency.

In addition to the battery electric vehicles, prospective Proposers are encouraged to include pricing for two vehicle charging options:

a)              charging equipment to support initial seven (7) vehicle order, with options to purchase additional charging equipment to support up to an additional twenty (20) vehicles over a five-year period.

b)              site design, charging equipment, delivery, installation and commissioning of charging equipment to support initial seven (7) vehicle order.

The Agency reserves the right to award a Contract to a qualified bidder for the vehicles only OR the vehicles and one of the charging options.

The Contract shall be a firm-fixed-price Contract.
